practical 4&5 reflection=)

ANOTHER PRACTICAL!!!

So, what did I learn this time?=)

Hm, I learn that by using different search facilities, it can widen my research and I can find different mediums of research from different search facilities. Using metacrawler allows me to search for information in a very direct and quick way because it will search through registered search engines like Yahoo or Google to find related information regarding my search query. Although it has a strict number of word limitation in its search box and I have to compromise my search query, I find it useful because it gives me information from various websites. Images and videos are also present when I use Metacrawler to search.

However, If I use Yahoo subject Directory, It is a bit different. This is because the information is well organized and is much more relevant to my research topic. Its result size is far much more smaller then compared to Metacrawler. I realize that when I use Yahoo directory to search for information, I end up getting links from the same website, which is Wikipedia. I realize this happens because it directs me to the website which is searches for and locates a single websie which has all the information I need. Although useful , I cannot rely on one single website for information. I need to look from different websites in order to expand my research.

Honestly, I love wiki because of its easy edit platform. It allows me to update or edit, change or remove information inside a wiki page so tat I can contribute willingly. I find this very useful and it is my first time to actually use such a facility where you can actually compile all your works together to form a base page where all the information regarding a common topic is showcased.

What I like best about collaborating with other students is that they give feedback. Feedback is important because by having them, it means someone is sharing their perspective on thing which might be different from you. That is where we can start to converse and share our knowledge and have a more in depth view regarding a common topic.

After knowing about EIR wiki spot, I will definitely look up to in every now and then to read on interesting facts. Maybe, I will add abit of my own research if I am interested.
The freedom to contribute is wonderful.
I love it=)
